Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced In-House Counsel / General Counsel to support a growing real estate investment and development platform. This role will serve as the primary legal resource for the organization, handling a broad range of commercial and residential real estate matters while working closely with executive leadership, finance, and operations.
The ideal candidate is a practical, business-minded attorney who enjoys variety, autonomy, and partnering directly with decision-makers.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary in-house legal advisor for the company and its affiliated entities
Review, draft, and negotiate commercial and residential leases (all sizes and asset types)
Review and negotiate loan documents, including acquisition, construction, and refinancing loans
Draft, review, and negotiate purchase and sale agreements and related closing documents
Manage and support due diligence for acquisitions and dispositions
Review and negotiate construction contracts and development-related agreements
Coordinate with and manage outside counsel for specialized legal matters
Provide practical legal guidance to business partners while balancing risk and commercial objectives
Assist with internal process improvements, templates, and legal workflows
Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school
Active Colorado Bar license (required)
California Bar license (preferred)
5+ years of legal experience, with a focus on commercial real estate
Demonstrated experience with:
Ability to work independently in a small, collaborative environment
Strong judgment, communication skills, and attention to detail
Practical, solutions-oriented mindset suited for an in-house role

Comfort handling a broad, generalist workload rather than narrow specialization

Up to $220,000 in total compensation; $100,000-$165,000 in base compensation
